Educational & Therapeutic Consulting

Help understanding what kind of support is truly needed.

Families reach out when something has changed, a current plan is no longer working, or they want to think ahead before a situation becomes urgent.

Fresh Tracks helps families understand the full picture, evaluate realistic options, and determine what may make sense for the person and family.

HOW IT BEGINS

Start with the whole picture

Families reach out to Fresh Tracks at very different points. Sometimes a therapist, school, physician, or another trusted professional has recommended additional support. A parent may be concerned about school, substance use, anxiety, depression, safety, or whether more structure is needed.

Other families call much earlier, while there is still time to plan. They may be thinking ahead to summer, the next school year, a transition home, or simply wanting a Plan B in place if circumstances change.

Wherever things stand, Mark begins by understanding the person, the family, the concerns at hand, and the factors shaping the situation. From there, he helps families sort through the possibilities and focus on the options that make the most sense to explore.

A man sitting in a chair leading a group therapy session or support group in a bright, cozy living room. Four people are seated on a tan leather couch listening attentively. The room has a large window, art on the walls, a potted plant, and a wood stove.
A man with gray hair and a mustache sitting in a rattan chair in a bright room, holding a notebook and pen while looking at a fireplace.
Three people walking on a dirt trail in a grassy field, with trees in the background during daylight hours. One person is carrying a package, and a black dog walks alongside them.
A young woman and an older man having a conversation on a balcony with a mountain landscape in the background.
Two fishermen, a man and a woman, standing in a shallow river while fishing. The man is holding a fishing line, and the woman is holding a fishing rod. They are dressed casually, and the scene is surrounded by green bushes and trees.

Support looks different for everyone

Recommendations depend on the person, the family, the urgency, clinical needs, location, timing, and cost. Mark helps families understand the available choices and weigh which ones make sense for their circumstances.

“I cannot express how grateful we are. We feel like we have awakened from a nightmare. There is still work to be done for all of us but there is time and a safe space in which to do it, and that is all a family can ask for. Thank you for all of your help and guidance.”

Cost & Insurance

Financial considerations are an important part of the decision and are best discussed early. Some services may be covered by insurance, while others are private pay or require families to cover a portion of the cost.

When Fresh Tracks recommends an option, the financial picture is discussed clearly, including cost, insurance participation, reimbursement, and other considerations before families commit.

For out-of-network programs or providers, he can also help families identify the questions to ask about reimbursement, documentation, and possible alternatives.

The goal is to understand the financial picture alongside the clinical and practical considerations.

“He visits all of the programs and knows the people well … I know they don’t all turn out this way, but ours is a wonderful success story.”
