WHO MARK WORKS WITH

Fresh Tracks Clients

Families and individuals come to Fresh Tracks from across the country and abroad. Many are referred by therapists, psychologists, physicians, educators, school counselors, coaches, attorneys, or families Mark has worked with before. Self-referrals are also welcome.

WHEN PEOPLE REACH OUT

When the current plan is no longer working, it helps to know your options.

A child may be increasingly anxious, isolated, angry, avoidant, or overwhelmed. A teenager may be struggling at school, using substances, taking unhealthy risks, or becoming harder to reach. A young adult may have left college, come home after treatment, lost direction, or be having trouble building structure and independence.

Adults also contact Fresh Tracks for help with recovery, career or life transitions, relationship or family concerns, or decisions they have put off for too long.

And not every call begins with a crisis. Families often reach out weeks or months ahead to think through summer plans, the next semester, a possible transition, or a Plan B before one is urgently needed.

The work begins with understanding the full situation: what has already been tried, who is involved, and what kind of help may make sense from here.

Fresh Tracks works with:

Children

AGES 10 TO 13

Early concerns may include anxiety, school refusal, learning or social challenges, changes in behavior, or a sense that something has shifted and deserves attention. Families often reach out before there is a diagnosis or a clear sense of what kind of help is needed.

Adolescents

AGES 14 TO 17

Families may be facing mental health concerns, substance use, school refusal or other school problems, family conflict, risky behavior, safety concerns, or a teenager who feels increasingly hard to reach. Often several of these are happening at once, after other approaches have already been tried.

Young Adults

AGES 18 TO 30

Support for young adults who are having difficulty launching, stepping away from college, returning home after treatment, facing substance use or recovery concerns, or trying to regain structure and a sense of direction. At eighteen, the legal picture changes, and families are often unsure how they can still help.

Adults

AGES 30 TO 55 AND UP

Consulting and coaching for career and life transitions, relationship or family concerns, major decisions, substance use or recovery concerns, or situations involving someone they love. Sometimes the person calling needs support themselves; other times, they are trying to help someone close to them.

Options Fresh Tracks can help evaluate

A man speaking to a small group of four people in a living room, sitting on a beige leather sofa. The man has glasses and gray hair, and is seated on a wooden chair, holding a book. There are framed pictures of mountains and snow on the wall behind him, a tall plant, a wood stove, and a door leading outside.

Recommendations depend on the person, the urgency, the family system, the clinical picture, the budget, the location, and the circumstances at hand. Mark helps families understand the available options and identify those that make the most sense.

The Fresh Tracks Commitment

When Fresh Tracks recommends a school, program, therapist, treatment center, or recovery resource, Mark takes that recommendation seriously.

Mark has spent more than 25 years building relationships with programs and providers, visiting them in person, and getting to know the people behind the work. He looks well beyond a program’s name or reputation, considering the specific therapist someone would work with, the makeup of the group they would join, licensure, and whether the leadership and staff who made a program strong are still in place.

Much of that information is not found on a website, and it can change quickly. Mark stays closely connected to programs and providers so families can make decisions based on current information, not simply a program’s past reputation.

Once a family moves forward, Mark stays actively involved with both the family and providers throughout treatment, helping maintain communication, follow progress, and navigate decisions or transitions as they arise.

Fresh Tracks receives no compensation from any program, school, or provider. Families hire Mark directly, so his recommendations remain independent.
