adventure-based coaching

For many people, movement & fresh air stimulate the brain in unique & positive ways.

This is exactly why Fresh Tracks offers Adventure-Based Coaching.

Take skiing for example. Fresh air, exercise, beauty, a chair lift, and an opportunity to smile from ear to ear every time you get to go down the mountain! That is therapeutic in itself but with the right person and some goals, it can quickly become the perfect environment for life coaching. Think about it. A 15-minute chair lift to talk then you get to take a break, enjoy yourself, blow off some steam, and repeat. The same general idea can be applied to fly fishing, mountain biking, canoeing or just hiking on a trail. Those environments are the offices we utilize for coaching.

Who can sign up for coaching?

Anyone who is motivated and would like to grow. Typically, coaching clients are adolescent or young adult clients who are returning from therapeutic schools or placements. Parents are welcome to sign up for individual sessions as well.

Is it hard or challenging?

Only if you want it to be. You make the decision on what you want to do. It is really about the fresh air and movement but we are not afraid to exert some energy if you would like!

Is this therapy?

No, it’s life coaching and though the experiences can be very therapeutic it is not therapy. If there are mental health needs Fresh Tracks will often recommend and work with local licensed therapists to tailor the coaching experiences to an individual’s needs.

Can we do an activity if I have not done it before or am new to it?

Absolutely and getting out of our comfort zone can be a great environment to learn and grow. Mark is a licensed fly fishing guide and has taught students to fish, ski, run rivers, climb, backpack, and more.

Do I have to commit to a certain amount of time?

It is up to you. For some people 1x a week is great for others 1x a month or as needed works. We only do it as long as it is helpful and the individual wants to do it.

Do we always have to do something outdoors?

No. There is nothing wrong with connecting over a cup of coffee or a meal from time to time. We just prefer to get outdoors. We can always combine a meal or a cup of coffee with an activity as well!

“Mark has helped our family so much! He was able to find unique boarding schools for both my brothers, which helped both of them greatly. As a life coach, he has been able to guide me as well. He was even the reason I decided to go to Montana State and follow the line of psychology for a major.

I could not ask for a better mentor or a better person to be able to mountain bike, fly fish, and explore with.”
